Some students believe numbers are boring. Show them how wrong they are with this fun dominoes matching game that mingles numbers with insects! AccuCut mini dies make it easy to cut out professional-looking bugs. Handwrite all the numbers or use quick-and-easy die-cut characters.

Grades:

K - 1

Curriculum:

CSLP, Math

Machines:
AccuCut® Dies:
Other Materials:
  • Construction Paper -- Multiple Colors
  • Black Marker
Tips:

For a variation on this game, use different mini die cuts. See AccuCut's catalog for a host of choices!

Instructions:

1. The mini insect die includes four different bugs. Cut 10 sets of all four.
2. With a Black marker, draw a line horizontally through middle of 40 index cards or die-cut playing cards to make dominoes.
3. On one end of each domino, glue an insect. On other end, write number from 1 to 5, or from 6 to 10.

To use: In a center, students pass out all of the cards and take turns playing, vertically or horizontally matching either the insect or the number on card ends. When a player can't find a match, he or she loses a turn. The object is to be first to lay down all of your cards.
