Chinese New Year Lantern

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with stunning paper lanterns children can make themselves. Create a classroom display, then send them home.

- Cardstock or Construction Paper -- Red, Yellow
- Glue
- Paint, Markers, Waxed String, Gems, Glitter and other decorating materials
- Tips:
Make this lantern for other seasons! Use black and orange for Halloween or pastels for spring.
- Instructions:
1. Cut enough red paper lantern shapes and handles so each student has one of each. 2. Cut two yellow strips for each student. Students glue to top and bottom edge of lantern. 3. Students decorate lanterns and handles with markers, paint, waxed string, gems, glitter and other materials. 4. Roll lantern and glue edges together. 5. Glue handle ends to opposite sides inside of lantern at top.
