Words that can be made from "ight", for example, include: fight, light, sight, might, night, right, tight, slight, fright, bright, flight, blight.
- Instructions:
1. Cut a number of jumbo fish. 2. Add details with a black marker. 3. Glue a wiggle eye on each fish. 4. On each fish, write a word family.
To Learn: One student chooses a jumbo fish out of a bag to identify the word family for the next round of the game. Students in groups of three or four write as many real words as they can in that word family. When the teacher says, "Pencils down," each team reports the number of words they have found. Ask each team to read their words to find out which team has the most. In a center, students can play against each other.
