Emphasize the fun of reading! Allow students to make their own parrot bookmarks for reading or literature programs. You can cut the shapes ahead of time and show children how to assemble and glue the parts onto the bookmark blank.

Tips:

Use different die cut designs for different themes on this generic-shaped bookmark.

Instructions:
  1. Cut bookmark for each reader.
  2. Cut parakeet from several colors. 
  3. Choose one bird to be "base".
  4. Trim other birds into sections as shown. Layer and adhere to base bird.
  5. With Black marker, add detail to eye and feathers as desired.
  6. Adhere finished bird to bookmark.
  7. Loop colorful cord or ribbon through precut hole.
