Jesus' Lamp
In the Sermon On the Mount, Jesus reminded us not to hide our lamps under a bushel, but rather to let them shine. This "lamp" will remind children of that parable. Use the song "This Little Light of Mine" with the lesson. (Matthew 5:14)

Colors of Faith Woven Cross
When talking with children about the crucifixion, using the colors of faith as symbols will help children remember why Jesus died on the cross. The brown base reminds us of the wooden cross where he died. Weave a black strip to symbolize our sins, yellow for God's light, white for the cleansing of our sins, red for Jesus's blood, green for new life in Jesus, blue for baptism, and purple for the crown of life. (Luke 23:1-46)

Lost and Found Sheep
Tell the children the story about the shepherd who searches for his lost sheep, then have them each make a 3-D sheep. Their sheep will remind them that God loves each of us as a shepherd loves his sheep, and if we are lost He will come looking for us. (Matthew 18:10-14)

Shield of Faith
Paul told the Ephesians at all times to carry their faith like a shield. After reading Ephesians 6:13-18 to the children, have them make a "Shield of Faith" to remind them about their Christianity. Discuss different faith symbols such as the Dove (Holy Spirit), Church (Fellowship of Christians), Chi Rho (a symbol for Christ from the first two letters of his name in Greek) with them and let them choose which to include on their shields.

Daniel's Lion
Children love acting out their favorite Bible stories. Read the story about Daniel and the lion's den, then have the children make a 3-D lion, and the figures of King Darius, Daniel and an Angel so they can retell the story to others later. Children will remember that God kept Daniel safe just as he keeps us safe. (Daniel 6)

Answered Prayers Magic Book
Isaiah the Prophet brought hope to the Israelites just as we get hope from God. After reading the story of Isaiah students will write Israelite worries and prayers as well their own on the outside of the magic book and how God answers prayers on the inside sections. (Isaiah 40)

Rainbow of Promises Mobile
Noah trusted God and did as God asked him when he built his ark and brought all the animals aboard. After hearing this story, children will enjoy coloring the rainbow that symbolized God's promise to Noah. Hanging hearts listing God's promises to us makes the rainbow into a mobile they can hang in their room at home. (Genesis 6:9-9:17)
